I&#8217;m really excited to be in the company of excellent co-panelists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dom Robinson<\/strong> is UK-based writer and technologist who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiosurvivor.com\/2018\/09\/17\/internet-radio-is-older-than-you-think\/\">written about the 25th anniversary of internet radio<\/a> in 2018 and discussed the topic with me on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiosurvivor.com\/2018\/09\/25\/podcast-160-marking-a-quarter-century-of-internet-radio\/\">podcast #160<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prof. Andrew Bottomley<\/strong> from SUNY-Oneonta has a book coming out this June entitled, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2RSV01X\">Sound Streams: A Cultural History of Radio-Internet Convergence<\/a><\/em>. He guested on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiosurvivor.com\/2018\/11\/13\/podcast-167-alternative-histories-of-podcasting\/\">podcast #167<\/a> to talk about this early history of internet radio and the precursors to podcasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dane Streeter <\/strong>is the Managing Director at Sharpstream in the UK, a leading audio streaming service provider, and a true fan of internet radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rob_Glaser\"><strong>Rob Glaser<\/strong><\/a> is the founder of RealNetworks, one of the first practical streaming media platforms on the internet, and certainly one of the leading technologies from the 1990s through the 2000s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.live365.com\">Live365<\/a> is sponsoring the conference, and <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJErceuhpz8uGNfK-9FWm6gpDWYEFLPeI_H1\">registration is free<\/a> for this and other panels on topics like station marketing, studio technology and the &#8220;future of podcasting.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Tuesday, April 21, at 12 PM EDT I&#8217;ll be participating in an online panel on the &#8220;History of Internet Radio,&#8221; as part of the first World Audio Day virtual conference.
