\"FCC<\/a>The FCC’s filing window<\/a> for applicants who are interested in obtaining a new LPFM<\/a> license is coming up in October and many groups are hopeful that college radio stations will take advantage of this rare opportunity to obtain a spot on the FM dial. At Radio Survivor we are working to connect college radio stations with information and resources in order to help make the filing process a little less daunting.<\/p>\n

College stations are in a great position to apply for LPFM licenses. If a university already holds a license for a non-student run radio station, it can still apply for a student-run LPFM. Additionally, the FCC has modified its rules in order to be even more accommodating to student stations. According to the FCC website<\/a>, “…where there are no conflicting applications, LPFM applications will be accepted for university student-run LPFM stations from universities holding LPFM licenses that are not student-run.\u00a0 Separate college campuses within a university system, or individual high schools under a single school board, could each individually apply for LPFM construction permits.”<\/p>\n
